Nanaimo Innovation Academy is an innovative, licensed, non-profit daycare program in Nanaimo, BC for children ages 12 months to 5 years old. Inspired by the best parts of Waldorf, Montessori, Reggio, Forest School Theory, and play-based learning pedagogy, our daycare provides an inspirational and supportive environment for children to thrive.
 
We strive to provide a high-quality daycare program that not only utilizes the best practices in early childhood pedagogy but also hires incredible educators. As a BC certified Living Wage Employer, we believe in paying our staff a living wage that not only reflects their skills, talents, and education but also their value to our daycare community.
 
We also run a Healthy Eating Program at our daycare using healthy, organic, locally produced foods. The children learn about nutrition, visit local farms, and try foods from various cultures.
 
Currently, we have 48 families registered within our programs - Infant/Toddler, Pre-K and Forest Programs.
 
We rely largely on tuition and fundraising to finance our educational and food programs. Fundraising increases our resources and opportunities to expand on learning -- through hands on field trips in our community, offsetting the cost of increased food and gas prices, new learning materials, and guest speakers.
